As a public service announcement, someone scraped every single text file on GameFAQS in March 2020 for archival purposes, and you can find it on archive.org with the title “Gamespot TXT GameFAQs - Full Archive.” You can download the whole thing (it’s about 2 gigs) if you want to spite Wikia’s attempts to make themselves the gatekeepers of all fan knowledge.

With stroke going on and everyone catching up on shows/movies they couldn’t watch

I highly recommend watching old OLD films

Could I make a recommendation list?

Absolutely

Now, these are movies from 1940s-1990s

  1. Citizen Kane {1941}
  2. Seven Samurai {1954}
  3. House of Usher {1960}
  4. Jumpin’ Jack Flash {1986}
  5. Some Like It Hot {1959}
  6. To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar {1995}
  7. The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert {1994}
  8. Monty Python and the Holy Grail {1975}
  9. The Goonies {1985}
  10. Stand By Me {1985}
  11. Blazing Saddles {1974}
  12. To Kill a Mockingbird {1962}
  13. The Color Purple {1985}
  14. Schindler’s List {1995} [only watch this one if you’re mentally and emotionally stable to deal with what happened in the Holocaust. I’ve only seen this movie 5 times in completion, but it’s well done.]

Oh have to rec my fav

Also the good the bad and the ugly 1966 ( all old Clint Eastwood westerns tbh)

My own recs (20s-90s) that aren’t on the above list:

  1. The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928)
  2. Ivan the Terrible (1944)
  3. Sunset Boulevard (1950)
  4. On the Waterfront (1954)
  5. The Manchurian Candidate (1962)
  6. The Haunting (1963)
  7. Rosemary’s Baby (1968)
  8. The Devils (1971)
  9. Chinatown (1974)
  10. Suspiria (1977)
  11. The Beyond (1981)
  12. Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985)
  13. Farewell My Concubine (1993)

I lean heavily on old pulp fiction and war movies so this list is mostly pulp and war:

1. Lady of Burlesque (1943)

2. The Big Sleep (1946)

3. Laura (1944)

4. Kelly’s Heroes (1970) - it’s an anti-war war movie about a bank heist

5. The Longest Day (1962) - set during D-day with perspectives from both sides of the conflict

6. The Kennel Murders (1933)

7. The Thin Man (1934)

And for tv drama series:

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1985) - Jeremy Brett as Holmes and one of the best dramatizations of the character

Jeeves and Wooster (1990) - Dr. House plays a rich airhead who is constantly saved from marriage and other horrors by his much suffering gentleman’s gentleman Jeeves.

I am compelled to add Arsenic and Old Lace (1944)- dark comedy with sweet murderous old ladies and Cary Grant losing his mind. One of my all time favorites.

1) Sgt. York (1941) a true story about the life and WW1 Medal of Honor actions of Sgt. Alvin C. York

2) Young Frankenstein (1974)

3) Singing in the Rain (1952)

4) True Grit (both the original and remake are good and the remake is well done)

5) The Exorcist (1973) (this one can be disturbing depending on the person)

6) Psych (tv series, 2006-2014, plus 3 movies since)

7) The Great Outsoors (1988)

8) Zulu (1964) about the Battle of Rorke’s Drift, starring a very young Michael Cain

9) Lawrence of Arabia (1962) I haven’t seen it yet but it is highly regarded, and inspired Spielberg to become a filmmaker

I’ve seen about 80% of the whole list here, it’s all good stuff. Most of what I haven’t seen is on a list of mine already.

Boettner_builds on Instagram started a LEGO replica of the Molly Phillips tour bus in March 2021.

This month, in a new update, Boettner shared that they recently got custom stickers made to add to the project and it looks phenomenal.
